Motivation – The Defining Moment Of Self-Improvement

Motivation from Paul Eckert By: Jordi Shoman

For any aspect of self-improvement, there has to be a reason for you to start and keep going. That is your motivation – the reason for doing what you do. In order to attempt any sort of improvement in your life, you need to be motivated in some way to get started. Strategies for self-improvement start with defining what it is you want to achieve and then charting a course through which you can effect the improvements or changes. These do not have to be drastic changes – they could be something as simple as making time for yourself to write in a journal each day or something to improve your health, such as quitting smoking.

Motivation comes from within. It is something that you want to do for you. This is what keeps you going, getting up each day and going off to work. Children are often the motivating force behind parents saving money, when they would ordinarily blow it on something frivolous. You know that you will need money for your children’s higher education or to give them the extras that they want, such as toys and brand name clothing. This is the reason that you work each day, maintain a home and spend time enjoying each other.

If you don’t have something to look forward to or see some sense of gratification in what you do, then there is no motivation to get doing it. Just meeting with colleagues helps you get a sense of who you are and your place in the world. Socialization, confidence and improvement are three main aspects of life. When you enjoy life, you can be motivated to achieve great things. Achievement does not have to be something that everyone recognizes.

Self Improvement and Success

Paul Eckert Success By: Louis Bonaventura.

Everything that happens to us happens on purpose. And most times, one thing leads to another. Instead of locking yourself up in your cage of fears and crying over past heartaches, embarrassment and failures treat them as your teachers and they will become your tools in both self improvement and success.

Say this to yourself … better yet, print it out and post it in a place where you will see it throughout your daily routine:

I Never See Failure As Failure But Only As:

- A learning experience!
- The negative feedback I need to change the course of my direction!
- The opportunity to develop my sense of humor!
- The opportunity to practice my technique and improve my performance!
- THE GAME I MUST PLAY TO WIN!

I remember watching Patch Adams. It’s a great film that will help you improve yourself. Hunter “Patch” Adams is a medical student who failed to make it through the board exams. After months of suffering in melancholy, depression and suicidal attempts – he decided to seek medical attention and voluntarily admitted himself in a psychiatric ward.

His months of stay in the hospital led him to meeting different kinds of people. He met a catatonic, a mentally retarded person, a schizophrenic and so on. Patch found ways of treating his own ailment and finally realizes he has to get back on track. He woke up one morning realizing that after all the failure and pains he has gone through, he still wants to become a doctor.

He carries with himself a positive attitude that brought him self improvement and success. He didn’t only improved himself, but also the lives of the people around him and the quality of life in general. Did he succeed? Absolutely!

So, when does self improvement become synonymous with success? Where do we start?

*Stop thinking and feeling as if you’re a failure, because you’re not. How can others accept you if you can’t accept yourself?

*When you see gorgeous models on TV, think more of self improvement, not self pity. That isn’t reality anyway! Self acceptance is not just about having nice slender legs, or great abs. Concentrate on inner beauty.

*When people feel down and low about themselves, help them move up. Don’t go down with them. They’ll pull you down further and both of you will end up feeling inferior.

*Mistakes are a great way to learn lessons. Don’t feel stupid and doomed forever just because you failed on your attempt to achieve something. There’s always a next time. Make room for self improvement.

*Take things one at a time. Don’t expect a black sheep to be renewed in the snap of a finger. Self improvement is a one day at a time process.

*Self improvement results in inner stability, personality development and SUCCESS. It comes from self confidence, self appreciation, self esteem and hard work.

* Set meaningful and achievable goals. If your goals are too far out of whack you will never reach them! Setting attainable goals is one of the keys to success.

*Little things to us may mean BIG things to other people. Sometimes, we don’t realize that the little things that we do like a pat on the back, saying “hi” or “hello”, greeting someone “good day” or telling Mr. Smith something like “hey, I love your tie!” are simple things that mean so much to other people. When we’re being appreciative about beautiful things around us and other people, we also become beautiful to them.

*When you’re willing to accept change and go through the process of self improvement, it doesn’t mean that everyone else is doing the same thing. The world is filled with people of different values and attitudes. Sometimes, even if you think you and your best friend always like to do the same thing together at the same time, he/she may decline an invitation for self improvement.

You should always remember that there’s no such thing as “over night success.” If it was easy, wouldn’t everyone be doing it? It’s a wonderful feeling to hold on to the things that you already have in your possession, but realize that those are just some of the things you once wished for.

5 Paul Eckert Tips author Ella Lewis.

Let’s face it worry, fear and anxiety are incredibly common problems. But when they take over your life and stop you from really living how you want to then it is time to do something.

Without using drugs there is a range of coping strategies that you can try to help program your bodily, psychological and behavioural responses linked to intense worry, fear and anxiety. These strategies need to be reinforced again and again so think of it as a long-term approach.

1) Think about keeping a diary which will help you monitor your anxieties and become more familiar with any patterns and triggers – for example, you might find that certain situations or people cause you more stress.

2) Improve your breathing – yes, there is a comfortable and an uncomfortable way to breathe! Try to catch yourself if you are breathing rapidly and shallowly -the kind of breathing that you find yourself doing if you’ve had to run for a bus for example. What you should be aiming for is breathing gently and evenly, through your nose, filling your lungs completely and then breathing out slowly and fully. Try practising taking eight to twelve breaths a minute (breathing in and breathing out again counts as one breath). Do not breathe rapidly.

3) Deliberate and planned relaxation - you need to build in planned exercises to manage your bodily sensations as part of your day-to-day life. Under stress, the muscles in our body tense and this can lead to anything from headaches to back pain. Look into relaxation exercises like this one: lie down in a comfortable position and tense your muscle groups, one by one for about five seconds and then let go of the tension for ten to fifteen seconds. Do this for your feet, legs, stomach, back, shoulders/neck, arms, face and whole body. Look into buying a relaxation tape/CD for this.

4) Develop the art of distraction to control your worries and fears. This is easier said than done I admit but there are a few things to try. The first is physical exercise: swimming, jogging, squash etc can help use up the adrenaline which can otherwise make you feel tense. In social situations like a party you could become distracted by helping the host hand round drinks and food. Other distractions include tidying up at home (I found that a good clean up at times helps me when I am wound up about something!) or reorganising the loft etc. anything that will allow you to get stuck in and avoid dwelling on problems. Refocusing is another technique to absorb your attention – in the street you could count how many people are wearing red for example. The techniques have to be practised to be effective.

5) Challenging your worries and fears is another good technique to use. For example, if you find yourself dwelling on something, ask yourself “Is this a realistic worry?” and then replace it with a constructive statement. Challenging the concern is a way of dealing with it at source and interrupting the cycle of increasing tension.

Self Improvement Is The Way To Happiness

Paul Eckert Way To Happiness By: Sandra Stammberger.

Self improvement is a way in which a person makes an effort in improving his performance in various activities. Self improvement helps the person in harnessing his powers positively to achieve results. By practicing self improvement a person is able to do his tasks on time and also do them successfully. No matter what challenges a person faces at different stages of life, a self improvement program plans to make the person meet the challenges with total confidence. A person is able to bring more control and benefits to his life in various ways.

A person should follow a self improvement program which consists of basic skills to improve one’s quality of life. A self improvement program makes a person understand himself and how life works. It also builds self esteem, self respect and overall mental discipline in a person. One can find more meaning and purpose to one’s life by following a self improvement program.

A self improvement program brings out the true powers of the individual and teaches him how to use his powers positively for his upbringing. A self improvement program helps the person in meeting newer and newer challenges everyday and helps him in grasping new opportunities. It helps him in fulfilling his duties towards himself and his society. It helps him to understand the purpose of his life as each person in the world has to fulfill a purpose in life.

A self improvement program provides inspiration to many through its lessons that should be read everyday. Thousands of people around the world are buying books and subscribing to newsletters for self improvement. The books are professionally written and divided into chapters to be read each and every day. Each chapter consists of a different way to achieve self improvement effectively. One can also get to understand the importance of self awareness by reading the books. Self awareness is fundamental to spiritual and personal growth. With the help of a self improvement program we are able to know what we want in life and how do we fulfill our desires.

Self improvement programs make us break through our limited powers of thinking. They help us see the bigger picture of life and also make us achieve prosperity in life by changing our behavior according to the situations that we face in life. Self improvement is not something that is to be read or practiced one time.

Getting Started with Paul Eckert Self Improvement By: JohnSpenserausb

To begin with, an optimist often centers attention on getting things done and sees damaging incidents in a way that facilitates studying and growth; this is what keeps him on the path of self development. Do not be ashamed to ask if you’re rightly saying a word simply because someone can make oversights but the finest technique to get over this trouble is to make jokes about it; do this often and your communication expertise will truly be improved.

You make any situation seem absolutely awful or even worse when you make use of terms like ‘always’ or ‘on no account’ on your subordinates at the place of work. More over it provides you a feeling that the individuals you make use of these words on are not loyal.

Do not strain to step on other individuals just to advance; though competition is wholly normal, you still should recognize where to draw the line while competing. Several of the time, it is vital for a current worker to receive personal coaching but it is often decided by the person’s competence as well as commitment level.

A single damaging reflection can damage everything around you. Hence, know that your mind wants peace as well as a harmless place to experience mental and also emotional self improvement.

Keenness is a fine weapon to deal with the hitches of life so that you get positive profits; it’s easy to succeed by doing all you should to be in accordance with your situation. If you truly aspire to upgrade yourself, do your finest to notice the expertise and also strengths of your subordinates at the workplace so that you are able to take advantage of them and also put them to work as one.

Your Purpose in Life – Connect With It

Paul Eckert on Recognizing Your Purpose in Life By Dorothy M. Neddermeyer, PhD.

With the continual expansion of instantaneous communication methods, the world exponentially shrinks, which leaves a profound question in people’s minds as to their place in an ever shrinking world. You might then be compelled to delve more deeply into the question of your purpose. Many people think there is a God given ordination for one’s purpose. Indeed, the basis of your soul’s sole purpose here is to create emotional and spiritual growth. However, your inner being, calls for deepening and enriching this purpose to its greatest depth and breadth.

The majority of people search for the answers to their purpose in life, outside of themselves.
The only path to deepening and enriching your purpose is to go within. The answer to one’s questions lie inside you. All you need do is look, listen and trust. Going within requires one to contemplate or meditate on creating a deeper and more enriched life.

Through meditation or contemplation, however, you can observe and learn the truth about your existence, for you break down the illusions that you created in your external life and you open up to your inner world and the truth. By meditating or contemplating, you will avoid the rationalizations and diversions that might influence your search for meaning, and instead come to the core of your being and your connection to the universe, which is where the truth that you seek resides.

Although, less popular in Western cultures, Buddhist and Hindu based meditation practices are the most practiced in both Eastern and Western cultures. Researchers posit that primitive hunter-gatherers may have discovered meditation and its altered states of consciousness as they stared at the flames of their fires during this nightly ritual. Meditation evolved in a structured practice over thousands of years. Indian scriptures called ‘tantras’ included meditation techniques over 5000 years ago. It is Buddha, one of history’s strongest proponents of meditation, who first introduced a formal technique of meditation around 500 B.C.

Contemplation is from the Latin root templus, an entering into an open or consecrated place. In the religious sense it is in the form of a prayer or meditation. In Christianity it is related to mysticism, as portrayed by the works of Teresa of Avila, Margery Kempe, Augustine Baker and Thomas Merton. From the earliest days of the Church, Christians have used contemplation as an essential part of prayer along with offering intercessions, supplications, and praise.

Both Meditation and Contemplation require a quiet environment and a willingness to use specific techniques, whether derived from the masters or one’s adaptations to go within to connect to one’s higher self and the answers that lie within.

While you are in the relaxed state of meditation or contemplation imagine connecting to the consciousness of the universe. Carl Jung described the universal consciousness as the collective unconscious. As you sense your openness you can ask what you need to know about the meaning of your life. The answer might not spring forth immediately, however, as you continue to connect to this collective unconscious you will notice that you have a greater sense of awareness of the direction you seek. You might notice a sense of ‘Aha,’ or a moment of profound truth that resonates as pure knowledge.

Ways to Spiritual Growth – The Unspoken Walk
Paul Eckert About to Spiritual Growth by Marita L Harden.

Have you ever felt spiritually stuck, or just felt a need to grow more in Christ? If you have ever felt this way, it’s actually a good thing. I believe that as Christians we should never be content with our walk with God, but continuously looking for ways to get closer to him. In order to grow closer to God you first have to consider the following:

1) You must first look at yourself. Yes, you have to examine yourself thoroughly. You must realize that your walk with God is a personal walk and must not be compared to anyone else. People often compare themselves with others and often feel disappointed when they may not measure up. You will never measure up because God called you to be you and not like someone else. Once you can accept that you can only be you, and then this will help your spiritual growth.

2) Confidence is also very important. People come to Christ from all walks of life and can suffer from spiritual low self esteem. You should not be ashamed of your past, in fact we all have a past. The truth of the matter is, that we were all different before our “BC” days….Before Christ. You have nothing to be ashamed of, your are not defined by your past. When you became saved, you were made a new creature and all old things were passed away. Lift your head high and walk in God’s love.

3) Testimony of your walk. You have a testimony for one reason…….. to share it with others. So many people can be delivered from your very own life’s experiences. Going back to spiritual confidence, once you obtain it, you can move forward and share how God’s moved in your personal life. You weren’t given a testimony to keep it to yourself……let people see God in your life.
